Housing

Nairobi’s streets are a harsh and unforgiving place for a child—especially orphans who have nowhere to turn. Many of these children face hunger, violence, and extreme poverty, sleeping on cold, unsafe streets with no one to protect them. At Voice of Hope, we are their refuge, providing not just shelter but a family. Our housing includes dorms, bathrooms, and a kitchen, ensuring they have a secure place to sleep, meals, and stability. We are constantly looking for donors to help improve our overcrowded and aging facilities, providing a safer, more livable home for the vulnerable children in our care. Every gift brings them closer to the comfort and stability they desperately need.

Nourishment

Providing food is one of our biggest challenges, and we rely on donors to ensure our children never go hungry. While we provide generous portions of rice, beans, ugali or cabbage, nutrient-dense foods like meat are a rare treat. When donations are low, ugali and cabbage are the only foods for months. With consistent support, we can give these children the balanced diet they need to grow strong and healthy, including the protein-rich meals they lack. We would love for 20 donors to provide 7,500ksh ($60) a month so we can consistently provide well-balanced meals for all our children.

Everyday Needs

Many children come to Voice of Hope with only the clothes on their backs. We do everything we can to provide them with clothing, shoes, and essentials so they can feel safe and cared for. But one of our greatest challenges is access to clean water, which is a luxury in Kenya. Contaminated water leads to dangerous illnesses like H. pylori, putting our children’s health at risk. Many who get sick wait weeks or even months to get help because there are no medical funds. If a child needs hospitalization, they are not allowed to leave until someone pays the bill. With your support, we can provide safe drinking water and protect them from preventable disease, ensuring they receive the medical care they desperately need.

Educational Support

Education is the key to a better future, but in Kenya, it comes at a cost many simply can’t afford. School fees range from 15,000 to 100,000 KSH ($116–$775) per child each year, a staggering amount for us, as we support over 25 children. Education is life-changing for these children—it’s often their only way out of poverty and toward a better future. However, after high school, many are left with few options beyond low-paying, unstable day labor, making it nearly impossible to break the cycle of poverty. With the support of donors, a college education can open doors to stable careers and life-changing opportunities. Your support provides school fees, supplies, and uniforms—ensuring every child gets the education they desperately need and the chance to build a brighter future.

Empowering Families

While some children at Voice of Hope have families, they often live in overcrowded, crumbling homes, with very limited access to electricity, clean water or medical care. Many parents struggle just to survive, making it nearly impossible to provide for their children. We work to ease their burden by improving living conditions and offering essential resources, but we can’t do it without the support of generous donors. With support, we can help families break the cycle of poverty and create a safer, more stable future for their children.
